 i need some advice

Hello- I am freshman in college and i just recently decided that I wanted to have a career in Anthropology. I am new to the career, they don't really teach you alot about it in high school. I was just wondering if anyone would like to give me some advice. I always find info on the web but I would like to hear words of advice from a current anthropologist. I have a series of questions that I would be greatful hear advice for any or all of them from anybody. First of all, I live in Michigan and the college that I am currently attending does not offer a major in Anthropology, so I have to transfer. I was wondering if anybody knew of a good school in Michigan that offers alot of internships and overseas programs. Or if any professors read this, maybe a school that I could attend overseas. A school focused on Anthropology, one who employers think highly of. I want advice purely based on personal thoughts, if you had any regrets in your anthropology career, what would you do over again? what school should I attend, what should I minor in? what should i focus my career on? I am extremely interested in other cultures so the opportunity to study overseas and one day work overseas highly appeals to me. Im not sure what things I should focus on at this point, if anyone can give me any advice i would be extremely thankful! Thank you for taking the time to read this although it is a bit disorganized!

I've posted messages on this site before and haven't gotten much response. It doesn't look like anyone has responded to you yet, so I thought I'd write and give you a few suggestions for finding answers to your questions.

If you are not already a member of AAA and NAPA, you should become a member. Being a member and attending meetings is the best way to make contacts with other anthropologists. As a student, you are eligible for a discounted rate.

You could also search for local anthropologists and ask to meet with them to learn more about the work they do, etc. (There are great books on conducting "informational interviews" to help you learn more about a type of job or a field.)
I am not a professor and I am relatively new to "practicing anthropology".:rip::lol:
