Hi, as I havent got the rlevant skills at the moment I am looking into studying in NZ as a mature student, I am 39 and several 1 year courses interest me, obviously I need to check out things such as doing something that will hopefully help me to gain work eventually, something that the Kiwi's need. It is quite pricey but I have a bit put by and am sort of looking at it as an investment, what does anyone else think out there. Is this a daft plan B as I cant get in using plan A. Would like some advise and suggestions on courses, was thinking travel and tourism maybe, and also advise on colleges in the different areas!!!
Many thanks in advance

Hi there
Have you checked out the immigration website to see which skills are listed as being a shortage? Most skills are normally professional ones which would require 3 yr diploma / degree level course. I re-trained as a mature student over here through Open Polytechnic. If you don't have residency before you arrive you will have to pay International student fees which are normally very expensive so this would also need to be considered. Also, if you are on a student visa you will not be able to work more than a few hours or earn over a certain amount a week, as far as I recal. May be worth checking that out too on Immigration website as it may mean you having to bring over extra money to live on whilst studying. May be cheaper to train in UK then apply for residency?
Good luck
