Despite state warnings to cease our investigative activity, in the year 2005 to 2006 Advocacy Forum documented 2837 cases of human rights violations including extra-judicial executions, illegal detentions, rape and torture. Within 24 hours of receiving a case Advocacy Forum takes action and develops specific strategies to gather information and evidence. In our documentation practice we work to ensure the protection and confidentiality of information collected and of the victim. The information we collect will not be publicized unless there is full consent from the victim or the victim's family. Due to consistent documentation of human rights violations, Advocacy Forum has played a significant role in mobilizing national and international action in response to the Human rights crisis in Nepal. Often the cases we document are further investigated with the help of different UN thematic mechanisms and other international human rights organizations such as the Asian Human Rights Commission, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and ICJ. With the help of these and similar organizations significant awareness has been raised regarding human rights in Nepal, resulting in pressure on the Nepalese government not to ignore the demands for justice.
