There are several reasons why going to college close to home may seem like less of a change. Still though, even if you choose a college that is close to home there is a period of adjustment. One of the biggest reasons why most college students choose a school that is close to home is because of family.

When a high school senior is preparing for their freshman year of college it can be a very scary experience. Choosing a college that is close to home can help ease some of the first year jitters. Plus it is wonderful to have your family close by for support. When the pressure mounts with paper deadlines and tests there is always someone close by to talk with.

Another reason why college freshman choose a local college is because they are already familiar with the area. This can make the first year of college much easier. Choosing a college close to home is also an ease financially. If you are working within a tight budget you may want to choose a local college. When going to a local college one does not have to pay for room and board, traveling expenses, food and much more.

These are just three of the reasons to choose a college that is close to home. Just think you can have your family, best friends and all of your favorite hot spots close by. A local college is like an old friend revisited. A local college is a great choice.
