Insurance for students

Be ensured with insurance for students

It is preferable for every person to have an insurance plan. In some cases, it is mandatory by law to have insurance. It is possible to ensure your home, your life, your car, your building, your travels, etc. Insurance is useful to help minimise risks. If something bad were to happen and you didn't have any insurance, you would have to pay a nasty sum of money!

Contrary to standard insurances meant for anybody, a student insurance can have interesting clauses and can also be much less expensive than "normal" insurances, since insurance companies know that students usually do not have the means to have big expenses.

Why pay to become ensured?

Why do we have to pay for insurance? Is it really that necessary?

That depends on a couple of factors. You are not obligated to get one... However, when you will encounter a problem, you will probably regret not having one. Each person's situation is different, but every student's budget is limited, and so it is important to take precautious actions.

For example, if you get sick and your hospital stay costs $500 each of the three times you need to stay there, that will cost you a total of $1500, which is a very large sum of money for a student. However, if you have health insurance, which covers about $100 of your health care for each month, you will have saved $300 of expenses during the year.

Of course, there are years when you won't even have to resort to your insurance, because you won't become sick, but there are also times when your expenses can elevate up to $6000 a year. You will end up in a very bad financial situation if you do not have the necessary ressources to pay for it.

Spreading costs

One of the main functions of insurance is spreading costs. There can be many situations where your insurances won't be as advantageous for you by comparing the costs when you are ensured and when you aren't. However, by having student insurance, it allows you to pay a certain amount each year and to know what that amount will be almost the same every year. You may have fluctuations in your yearly expenses when you are a student, and student insurance will help lower that financial stress.

Lowering the costs

Even if it may not seem much, you can save hundreds of dollars of expenses every year with student insurance. Insurance companies make their money by recieving your payments, which they put in investment schemes to create interest. That is what gives the insurance companies profit.

However, they must pay indemnities asked by their clients. Thus, they must pay them with the money they made in their investments... In the end, the interest won with the money invested allows them to gain a certain profit and to repay their clients. That being said, the clients have an advantage in having insurance. But if we observe each and every one of them, the different scenarios may not make it seem like they have the upper hand.
