How to Prepare for College
There are several ways that a pre college freshman can prepare for college. One of the first steps in preparation for college is to pick the classes that you want to take. You may have already decided on a major and a minor field of study. A major is the main field of study that you wish to learn about such as law or social services or early education. Your minor is your secondary field of study.
You may wish to major in journalism with a minor in psychology. Your major and minor do not have to be closely related to each other. If you are unsure of what you want to study in college you may want to choose general studies. General studies is a program that allows a college student to first focus on the mandatory college classes before having to decide on a major or minor field of study.
Once you have chosen your college curriculum you want to get all of the supplies that you will need for each class. Ask a guidance counselor or contact your professors and found out what you will need for class. This way you will be prepared for not only the first day but the entire semester.
If you are going away to college in a different state you want to arrive early for the semester in order to learn the layout of the new city or town. If you are using public transportation you want to make sure that you become familiar with the routes. Each of these steps will help you be prepared for the first day.
