Student Work Exchange
Student work exchange is a great way to get a short term look at working abroad. Giving students a taste of working in an international arena without a long term commitment. There are many companies that specialize in matching students with work exchange opportunities and offer exciting travel opportunities.
The Peace Corps is one avenue that architects, urban planners and mechanical engineer majors may want to consider. Offering the student the chance to train in a third world country where they get experience while also helping the citizens of those countries. The Japanese government offers a program called JET. This program pays a small salary and offers one year contracts or longer if you like. It is not necessary to speak Japanese to participate in this program. The International Volunteer Program gives students the chance to intern in the UK and France for six weeks. Working in summer camps, hospitals, tourism offices and with local city governments all while getting two weeks off for travel. Two years of French language study is required for positions in France. Meals and housing are provided while working. Interexchange is a program that offers students the chance to work in Germany, Finland, Norway and the Czech Republic. They give the option of a six month to a full year option. Spending a small amount of time on the internet will present students with boundless opportunities and organizations to find the best work exchange program to enhance their career goals.
