Different Types of Colleges To Choose From
There is a wide selection of colleges to choose from. One can choose from a community college, a state college, a vocational school or a trade school. Each of these types of colleges has benefits and downsides. We will first take a closely look into a community college.
A community college is perfect for someone who wants to take just a few college classes in order to get a feel for the college curriculum. At a community college one can only get a two year or an associate’s degree.
Community college is an ideal situation for an adult going back to school or someone who has to work while in college or for just getting your feet wet in upper academia. A community college allows one to ease into the college experience with the flexibility of choosing from a variety of morning, day and evening classes. A community college is usually less expensive then a state college.
A vocational or trade school is a type of college in which one specializes in a specific field. There are several different vocational and trade schools that one can choose from. Some of the careers that a vocational or trade school may specialize in is automotive, fashion, interior design, art, photography, nursing, business, medical assistant, computers and graphic design. This type of college usually has a set course program that lasts from six to twenty-four months.
A state college is cheaper then a university and has high education standards. At a state college one can get an associates or a bachelor’s degree. A state college is more of the true college experience. Students can live on campus and have more freedom when a class schedule.
